Your recordings stay on your computer
Effective October 15, 2026
In short
- FlowSnap captures screenshots and page details only while you're recording.
- Everything is stored only in Chrome on your computer. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
- Only you can see your recordings. We, the makers of FlowSnap, never receive them and have no way to view, access or recover them.
- FlowSnap has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads.
- Your flows leave your computer only when you export them yourself.
Who we are
FlowSnap is a Chrome extension that records a user flow as you click through a website and lays it out as a diagram. This policy explains what FlowSnap handles, where it's kept, and the choices you have.
What FlowSnap handles
FlowSnap only handles information while you're recording, which starts when you click the FlowSnap icon and ends when you stop. While recording, it captures:
- Screenshots of the pages you visit in the recorded tab, as they appear on your screen. These can include anything shown on those pages, such as names, email addresses or other details you type or that the site displays.
- Page details: each page's address (URL), title and the name the website gives itself.
- Where you click on each page, so the flow's arrows can start from the right spot.
FlowSnap also keeps what you create on the canvas, such as flow and screen names, sticky notes, blurs, circles and written steps, plus a few settings, like where you last placed the recording panel.
FlowSnap doesn't capture anything when you aren't recording, and it never reads your browsing history, passwords, cookies or other tabs.
How it's used
Only to provide FlowSnap's single purpose: showing your recorded flow on the canvas and letting you annotate and export it. FlowSnap doesn't use your information for advertising, profiling or anything else.
Where it's stored, and who can see it
Your recordings belong to you, and only you can see them. We, the makers of FlowSnap, never receive your recordings or anything in them, and we have no way to view, access or recover them. That also means we can't restore a recording you've deleted.
Everything is stored locally, in Chrome's storage for the FlowSnap extension on your computer. Websites and other extensions can't read it. It isn't encrypted beyond what your computer and Chrome provide, so anyone with access to your computer and Chrome profile could view your recordings.
Sharing
FlowSnap doesn't send, sell or share your information with anyone, including us. It makes no network requests with your data.
Your flows only leave your computer when you choose to export them, by copying to the clipboard (for example, Copy for Figma) or downloading a file. What happens to them after that is up to you and the apps you paste or save them into. Blurs you add are applied permanently to the image in every export, so what's underneath can't be read.
Keeping and deleting your information
Your recordings stay until you delete them. You can:
- Delete individual screens on the canvas.
- Remove FlowSnap from Chrome (at
chrome://extensions), which deletes everything it has stored.
Permissions
- Access to websites, asked for the first time you record, not at install: to take screenshots of the pages you record and see where you click.
- Active tab: to start recording on the tab where you click the FlowSnap icon.
- Scripting: to run FlowSnap's recording panel on the page you're recording.
- Storage and unlimited storage: to keep your flows and screenshots on your computer. Screenshots of long pages are large.
Children
FlowSnap is a tool for designers and isn't directed at children under 13.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received from FlowSnap complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If FlowSnap's handling of your information changes, this page will be updated and its effective date changed. Any significant change will also be explained in the extension before it applies.
